Alan Ray Leggett, 70, of Abilene died Friday, May 26, 2023, in an Abilene hospice facility. A memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

Alan was born November 29, 1952, in San Antonio to Roy Lee and Mary Evelyn (Porter) Leggett. He graduated from Abilene High School. At age 14 he started working in his dad's barbershop. He later worked as a truck driver and continued until he retired from ABF Trucking. He and Barbara Bowman Summers were together for 27 years; they were married in Abilene in 2005. Alan loved motorcycles, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He was a good man and loved life and people. He never met a stranger and many of his friends were like family to him.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara Leggett of Abilene; sons, Cody Leggett and wife Nicki and children of Abilene, Garrett Leggett and children of Gustine, Daylen Leggett of Abilene, Shane Adkins and wife Tracie and children of Abilene, Chris Summers and wife Stephane and children of Abilene, Marshall Summers of Abilene, B.J. Sears and children of Gustine and his Arkansas son, Chris Jackson and wife Keri and children of Mena, Arkansas; daughter, Amber Burkland and husband Jeff and children of South Carolina; sister, Rhonda Hilliard and husband Bill of Abilene; brother, Jesse Don Gage and wife Chochi and children of Caldwell; uncle, Ronnie Porter and his wife Brenda and children of Victoria; cousins, Margie Bell and husband Jeff and children of Clyde and Audri Rowell and children of Abilene; with numerous other family and friends that were special to him.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Leggett and grandparents, Ray Otis and Linnie Porter (Mawsy and Boppa) and Jeff and Ester Leggett.
