Amanda Louise Rice, 53, of Baird died Sunday, May 30, 2021 in an Abilene care center. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Ross Cemetery with Pastor Larry Hooper officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Amanda was born September 8, 1967 in Weatherford to W. Leo David and Margaret Sue (Wilkerson) Matheny. She graduated from Brownwood High School. She married Derek Rice in Fort Worth on March 17, 2001. Amanda loved her family and was lovingly called Moo Moo by her grandkids. She loved cooking and worked as a cook for ACU for many years and for Ft. Worth ISD. She also enjoyed working in a day care for many years.

She is survived by her mother Margaret Sue Matheny of Copperas Cove; husband Derek L. Rice of Baird; son Joshua L. Rice of Ft. Worth; daughter Samantha L. Rice of Baird; two brothers, David Matheny and wife Denise of Copperas Cove and Toby Matheny and wife Missy of Niceville, Florida; sister Susan Matheny of Baird; grandchildren, Skylar Rollins, Brayden Rollins, Kayson Montgomery and Kelcey Childs; aunt and uncle, Dion and Nan Rice of Bowie; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.

Amanda was preceded in death by her father, W. Leo David Matheny; sister, Cassandra Lynn Hughes; grandmother, Dorothy Matheny; grandfather, L.B. Matheny; nephew, Joshua Paul Hughes; father-in-law, Leland Rice and aunt, Shirley Matheny.
