Farmer
Dec 8, 1937 — Feb 13, 2020
Anna Beth Farmer, 81, of Denton Valley died Thursday, February 13, 2020 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the Denton Valley Baptist Church, 11657 FM 604, Clyde, TX 79510 (FM 604 close to Hwy 36) with Pastor Louis Brewer officiating. Services are under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Kendrick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Anna Beth Farmer was born December 8, 1937 to Carl & Nettie Mae Davis of Denton Valley. She attended school at Denton Valley Schools when she was young, finishing up at Clyde High School. On July 11th, 1956, she married Von Ray Farmer also from Denton Valley. On the way to pick up a midget race car, they stopped in Albany, Tx to get married.
A hard working farmer & rancher all her life, she instilled those hard work ethics in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was one tough lady and there are some trespassers and drug makers here in Callahan County that can attest to that after being chased down and the sheriff called! Hauling grain in the summers was something that she not only enjoyed, but was good at it...... with a record 7 full loads hauled in one afternoon to Abilene from her fields at Denton Valley. She spent most of her life farming between Callahan, Knox and Haskell counties.
She was most happy when driving her big diesel pickup around checking on the wheat fields, moving equipment, or checking on her sheep & goats. Luckily, she didn't have to survive in this world long not being able to do those things she loved so much. She was such an independent, strong and courageous woman; the epitome of what you would imagine that a farmer's wife, and farmer herself, would have to be to survive. There was nothing that she couldn't do.
She spent years as a member and pianist at Denton Valley Baptist Church and even helped teach the children's bible school there. She took pride in keeping up with the Kendrick Cemetery, serving on the Board of Directors for too many years to count.
Preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Nettie Mae Davis, her son-in-law Bobby Jackson, and her grandson, Jason St John.
Survived by her husband, Von R Farmer, daughter, Zella Gae Jackson of Denton Valley, son & daughter-in-law, Ray & Priscilla Farmer of Abilene, granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Mandy & Colby Hatchett, great grandson, Haden Hatchett, of Denton Valley. Also, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jessica & Derek Floyd as well as their children, Jessa, Jason, Jake, Jack, all of Clyde.
