Arturo Velis, 67, of Baird passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arturo was born July 22, 1956, in Mathis, Texas to Alberto Belez and Mary Gomez. He married Norma Turner in Callahan County on October 3, 2011. Arturo was a wood cutter for most of his life. He loved working on vehicles and fishing but most of all, he loved his family, they were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Velis of Baird; three daughters, Becky Brooks of Baird, Kathy Norway of Cross Plains and Marinoel Turner and partner, Jeff Wallis of Baird; three grandchildren he raised, Alisha Phelps and husband Brad of Eastland, Chystal Koger of Baird and Kayla Pippin and husband Chris of McCulley; Arturo had numerous brothers and sisters including his sisters, Blasa Lopez and husband Benny of Potosi and Carmen Belez of Robstown; his brother; Fred Belez of Milsher; numerous aunts and uncles; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren,  William Johnson of Baird, Cross and Adia Dixon of Baird and 35 other great grandchildren and  numerous nieces and nephews.

Arturo was preceded in death by Grandma Blasa Gomez and husband Estanlislando C Lopez; Mother, Mary Gomez; Brother, Ted Belez; daughter; Debra Perez; Uncle Romito Gomez and Nephew, Georgie Gomez.
