Barbara Marie (Burton) Russell, of Baird, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024. She was 75. Barbara was born on March 11, 1949. She grew up near Big Spring, Texas on her Fryar grandparents' farm. She moved to Florida in her teens, where she met and married her husband Edward Russell in June of 1967. Barbara worked most of her life as a clerk, but her real joy came from crafts and cuisine. She was known to enjoy crochet, knitting, ceramics, and embroidery. She loved to seek out new recipes and was adventurous in her choices, making delicious dishes like clam chowder, crawfish etouffee, Cuban ropa vieja, and a variety of baked goods and sweets for the people she loved.

Barbara moved back to Texas in 2006 after the death of her husband. Her greatest joys late in life were her dog, Widget, and visiting with her friends and family. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Russell, her mother and stepfather, Marie and Bill Hartup, her father and stepmother, B.E. and Jeanie Burton, and her brother, Blu Burton. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Kevin Sipes of Clyde, and two sisters-in-law, Pat Burton of Abilene and Jean Davis of Florida. She is remembered by three aunts, one uncle, many nieces and nephews and their families in both Texas and Florida.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 8th, 2024, at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde, Texas with Pastor Larry Bennett officiating. A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
