Betsy Doris Norman, 91, of Clyde died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in a Clyde care center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Clyde First United Methodist Church with Rev. Monty Barnett officiating. Burial will be on Sunday at the Pattison Cemetery near Emhouse, Texas.

Betsy was born September 13, 1930 in Emhouse, Texas to Kyle Harper and Mabel Verlie (Meridith) Stokes. She graduated from Mertens High School. She married Kenneth Ray George in Mertens on May 5, 1950. Betsy later married Bobby Earl Norman in Alvin on June 21, 1973. She worked for Kroger in Freeport and Friendswood for 30 years, retiring as produce manager in 1994. She moved to Clyde from Groesbeck in 2012 and was a member of the Clyde First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth "Kenny" Ray George, Jr. and wife Vickie of Angleton; two daughters, Sharon Kathleen Wilson and husband Jackie of Clyde and Vicki Elaine Renfro and husband Raymond of Vernon; one step-daughter, Jody Lynn Moore and husband Gary of Alvin; nine grandchildren, Pamla Denice Thate and husband Stacey, Leslie Kyle Hammonds, Christopher Scott Wilson and wife Jennifer, Robert Paul Hammonds and wife Chris, Kandi Ruchelle McCrary and husband Londail, Vernon Kyle George , Anthony Wayne George, Cary Wayne Moore and Trisha Rachaele Bly; twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Betsy was preceded in death by her husband Bobby; grandson, James Cody Hammonds; five brothers, Curtis Merideth Stokes, Lowell Calvin Stokes, Billy Joe Stokes, Benny Morris Stokes and Lonnie Jean Stokes.
