Betty Jane Arnold, 93, of Abilene died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Abilene with Pastor Jerry McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Betty was born April 14, 1924 in Beardstown, Illinois to Jerry and Reasie (Wilkie) Lashbrook.  She graduated from high school in Blessing, Texas and later married Abner D. Arnold in Gastonia, North Carolina on June 26, 1944. They moved to the Abilene area from Illinois in 1949. Betty was a bookkeeper for many years, working for Hoppe Auto Electric, Triangle Supply, VJ Oil Co. and Terry Roberts. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the ABWA.

She is survived by her sister Erma Dunne of Big Spring; her niece, Martha McNeill and husband Jerry of Abilene and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Abner in 1994, three sisters, Maude Gilchrist, Beulah Fiaminghi and Jeana Lashbrook and a baby brother William Lashbrook.
