Betty Lee-Nora
Harris
May 6, 1926 — Dec 9, 2020
Betty Lee-Nora Harris passed away peacefully at her home on December 9 th , 2020 with her granddaughter Tresa and grandson-in-law Shawn by her side. She was 94. Betty spent the remaining years of her life alongside her husband Dillard who passed away in January 2020. They lived, loved and laughed every day, enjoying the peace and quiet and reveling in the presence of friends and family.
Betty lived in a constant state of "ornery…..but a good ornery." Those were here words. She greeted everyone with a smile and when asked how she was doing, that was her response. If you heard anything other than that then it was usually something like, "I feel like stewed poot." One of her favorite things to tell people as they left her home was, "I love you a bushel, and a peck, and hug around the neck." And she meant it. Betty remarked daily that she was so thankful for what she had and that, while she missed Dillard, she knew he was in a better place.
Betty Lee-Nora was born in Breckinridge, Texas in 1926; living through the Great Depression and seeing a husband go off to fight in World War II. Her first husband, Neville Bryant, served aboard Liberty Ships with the U.S. Navy and befriended the man that would later become her second husband, Dillard Keith Harris. In the months leading up to Neville's passing, Dillard and Neville rekindled their friendship, and a year after he passed away Dillard and Betty married, both realizing how much they needed each other. That story was told to every doctor, nurse and caregiver they ever came in contact with and continues to be a story told by members of the family.
Betty is survived by an extensive family spread across the United States all the way to Alaska. While they will all greatly miss Granny, they know that she went peacefully and are grateful she gets to be together with both of her husbands.
The funeral for Betty Lee-Nora Harris will be held on Friday, January 29 th , at 1:00 p.m. at the Clyde Cemetery in Clyde, Texas. In lieu of flowers please send donations to a charity of your choosing and add a note…."from Betty." She would like that.
