Billy Gene (Bubba) Wilson, Jr., 71, of Baird, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Lytle Bend Ranch, 2582 Potosi Rd., Abilene, Texas 79602.

Bubba was born September 26, 1952, in Coleman to Billy Gene and Geraldine (Bowers) Wilson. He was a Cowboy Heritage Church of Clyde member and competed in several Team Roping Associations. Over the years, Bubba worked on many ranches. He lived a life that many would consider that of a true cowboy. Bubba would tell folks he was a "horse rider,":- adding that he would "ride a horse until it gave up!"

He is survived by his daughter, Kirby Meadows, and husband Ward of Strawn; his son, Shooter Wilson of Baird; one brother, Jackie Wilson and wife Sharon of Baird; one sister, Sheila Irene Croft and husband Edward of Freeport; nieces and nephews, Scott Wilson and wife Jennifer, Denice Thate and husband Stacey, Taylor Rash, Maycee and Christopher Sterling and numerous other family members and friends.

Bubba was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Sterling Wade Wilson; brother, Jerry Max Wilson, and sister, Theresa Jones.
