Obituary

Burl Clyde Cox, 76, of Abilene died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at his home. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Burl was born January 15, 1946, in Big Spring to Clyde and Clogene (McCray) Cox. He graduated from Eula High School.  He married Carolyn Lackey in Clyde on July 8, 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1974 until 1980. Burl worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years, retiring as maintenance manager. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by two sons, John Cox and wife Kristie of Clyde and James Cox and wife Lisa of Abilene; sister, Sharon Glaze of Abilene; grandchildren, Jaclyn Mendez, Andrea Cox Herring and husband Aaron, J.D. Cox, Brady Cox, Ryan Cox and wife Ashton and Kaitlyn Cox and two great grandchildren, Kai Cox and Anora Cox.

Burl was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carolyn in 2018.
