Early Friday morning, June 7, 2024, Carl Dean Shelton passed away at his home. The Lord welcomed him home with open arms.

Carl was born in Brownfield, Texas to Delza Mae Harwell and Bill Shelton on September 1, 1945. He was the youngest of five children (three boys and two girls). He has two brothers that live in Abilene, Texas, Billy Shelton and wife Raye Nell and Doyle Shelton and wife Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Keecee and Merle Gideon.

After graduating Abilene High School, Carl joined the Army and served his time working in the infirmary helping the wounded. Carl met the love of his life, Sandra Kay Fry, in Abilene, Texas. They married on February 10, 1973. Together they had three children, Chris Shelton and wife Monica of Haskell, Cindy Shelton of Clyde and Angela Offield and Jeremy Hall of Clyde; grandchildren, Chase, Brittney, Alexis, Kris, Brooke, Jake, Brett, Meghan, Kenzie, Jade, Tyler and Tanner; great grandchildren, Casen, Summer, Scott, Kentley, Henley, Crew and Cohen.

Dad was always out looking for a bargain after retiring. He loved people, garage sales and Goodwill! Rest in peace Papa, Pop, Old Man and Dad! You will be missed forever and always.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
