Catherine Marie (Clark) Monroe, 69, died Friday, May 5, 2023, at an Abilene care center. Memorial services are scheduled for a later date.

Cathy was born September 16, 1953, in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, to George W. Clark and Betty Jane (Gardner) Clark. She graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and served in the US Air Force for several years. Cathy married Robert Herbert (Shorty) Monroe, Jr. on August 5, 1977, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She moved to Clyde from Austin in 2009.

Cathy is survived by her two sons, Darius Dashiell Monroe and wife April of Springfield, Missouri and Amasa Eythan Monroe of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, Butch Clark and wife Vickie of Huntsville, Alabama; three sisters, Sue Morris and husband Greg of Abilene, Trish Blazauskas and husband Ron of Clyde and Linda Dodson of Merkel; three grandchildren, Isaiah Monroe, Amara Monroe and Jazlyn Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Robert Monroe; two sisters, Anita Chapman and Karen Childers; and two brothers, Fred Givens and Michael Givens.
