Charlene Doherty, 96, of Baird, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in a Baird nursing home. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements by Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Charlene was born August 24, 1925 in Vernon to Charley Edward and Edie Priscilla (Ramey) Railsback. She was the youngest of 12 children. She attended school in Vernon. She married Johnny Doherty in Vernon on August 28, 1944 and sadly Johnny was killed in an automobile accident in June of 1946 and Charlene never remarried. Charlene was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Doherty and wife Donna of Baird; four grandchildren, Monica Doherty of Clyde, Thomas Doherty and wife Amy of Baird, Tim Doherty and wife Mandy of Kenai, Alaska and Chandra Doherty of Baird; four great grandchildren, Cheridan Doherty of Clyde, Sharlena Spencer of Baird, Devin Fox of Abilene and Alaira Doherty of Kenai, Alaska and four great-great grandchildren, Haidn, Kaileigh, Lyla and Shay.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her eleven brothers and sisters.
