Charles Albert Sachsenmeyer, 71, of Clyde died Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his home. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements by Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Charles was born June 26, 1949, in New Braunfels, Texas to Albert Joseph and Willie Lucille (Kniffen) Sachsenmeyer. He moved to Clyde from New Braunfels in 1963 and graduated from Clyde High School in 1967.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State College (now University) in 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 22 years.

As a young child, Charles was introduced to gardening, a pastime he continued throughout his retirement. He canned and froze his produce which he generously shared with family and friends. An unpretentious and attentive person, Charles cared for both his mother and his aunt, driving them to appointments and grocery shopping as well as entertaining them with his stories.

He was a long-time member of the Church of Christ.

Charles is survived by his son, Conan Albert Sachsenmeyer and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry Edward Sachsenmeyer.
