Christy Jan Rodgers King, 71, of Baird died Friday, March 3, 2023, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Baird with Pastor David Acevedo officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery.

Christy was born April 2, 1951, in Merkel to Elvis Wayne and Mary Sue (Cole) Rodgers. She attended Anson High School and received her GED in 1972. She went on to earn her LVN Degree from Ranger Junior College in 1978. Christy was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years. Her first nursing job was at the French Robertson Unit. She had also worked for West Texas Medical Hospital, several nursing homes in and around Abilene and for Dr. Calvo's office in Baird.

She married Larry King in Baird on April 4, 1986. Christy moved to Baird from Anson in 1984 and lived in Baird, on the same street, for almost forty years. She was a member and ex-President of the Baird Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Callahan County Rodeo Association and Sheriff's Posse. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Baird First Baptist Church.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents, Sue and Elvis Rodgers. She is survived by her husband of almost 37 years, Larry King; her stepchildren, John Travis King and wife Trisha and Charla Strosser and husband Garrett and their children, Austin, Hannah, Nathan, Ethan, Alyssa, Peyton, Annabelle, Miles, and Klara; brother, David Rodgers; sister, Vicky Baucum.
