Stevenson, Jr.
Mar 27, 1938 — Jul 27, 2024
C.R. Stevenson Jr., a husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
Born on March 27, 1938, in Roswell, New Mexico, to C.R. Stevenson Sr. and Clyde Stevenson, he lived a full life. On August 23, 1958, he married Lois Stevenson. They shared 66 years together and built a loving family and countless memories together.
C.R. was a long-time resident of Dumas, Texas, before moving to Clyde, Texas, in 1980. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and instilled a love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois of Clyde; three sons: Alton W. Stevenson and his wife Debbie of Lake Coleman, Tony R. Stevenson and his wife Cheryl of Lake Coleman, and C.R. Stevenson III of Clyde.
He was a grandfather to eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will all miss him dearly.
C.R. was preceded in death by an infant son, Cory Shey Stevenson, in 1975, and a grandson, Kyle Stevenson, in 2022.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be scheduled later in August to honor C.R.'s memory and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.
