Claude was born January 8, 1932, in Moran to Floyd “Buster” Boyd and Maggie Jewell McKee Archer. He grew up in Moran and attended school there. He left school at an early age and bought a Model T for $40 at the age of 14, so he could start work picking cotton. He was later drafted into the US Marines and served during the Korean War. After the war he served as a military police officer. He married Mary Anita Rutherford in Lubbock on January 29, 1960. He worked many jobs during his lifetime, including working for the railroad, a gas plant and in the oilfield. He also worked as a mechanic and rebuilt cars from the ground up. He and Mary participated in many car shows and were members in a few car clubs.

He enjoyed trading at swap meets in the area and loved having garage sales with an abundance of items at his house in Clyde. Later in life, he spent time at some of the local restaurants doing his puzzles and visiting with friends. He was known to many in the community as “PawPaw”. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved traveling, and continued well into his 90’s.

He is survived by two daughters, Rita Snider and Angie Turner, both of Abilene; two brothers, Guy Archer of Stephenville and Ted Arher of Granbury; one sister, Sharron Merry of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Melissa Boyd of Clyde, Christopher Garrett Garcia of Abilene and Michael Cole Garcia of Abilene; five great grandchildren, Cash Garcia, Izrael Garcia, Karyssa Garcia Josiah Garcia and Emma Joe Celestina Olvera.

Claude was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his great grandson, Christopher Garrett Garcia, Jr; four brothers, and three sisters.
