Clifton Henry Bode, Jr., 83, of Abilene died Monday, December 10, 2018 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Hooper officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Clifton was born November 9, 1935 in Breckenridge to Clifton and Lou (Watts) Bode. He graduated from McCamey High School. He moved from McCamey to Abilene in 1954, where he earned his bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University. He was also recruited by Sammy Baugh to play football while at Hardin Simmons. He owned and operated full service carwashes around the Abilene area for many years.  He married June Gardner in Abilene on October 29, 2012 and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Elvin Chew of Abilene.

Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, uncle Ray Branam, aunts, May Batson and Louise Graves.
