Obituary

Clovis Ray Simons, 82, of Cross Plains, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.  Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022, in the Cross Plains Cemetery with Brother Jody Forbus officiating.  Clovis will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2nd, and from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Sunday, July 3rd at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

Clovis was born March 24, 1940, in Cross Plains to Elmer and Ellen (Day) Simons and attended Cross Plains High School.  Clovis married Billie Day in Cross Plains.  He owned Simmons Backhoe Service and was a member of the Cross Plains United Pentecostal Church.

Clovis is survived by his wife, Billie Day Simons of Cross Plains; two sons, Robert Ray Simons and Jerry Wayne Simons, both of Cross Plains; two sisters, Wanema Simons Aiken of Early and Vega Simons Sallee of Carbon; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished family and friends.

Clovis was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Billy Joe Simons; three brothers, Steve, Homer and DeWitt Simons; and two sisters, Grace Simons Carpenter and Cleta Simons Jackson.
