Danny Lee Ballard, 68, of Clyde, died Friday, January 7, 2022, at an Abilene hospital.  A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Danny was born January 28, 1953, in Ft. Worth to D.G. "Shorty" Ballard and Geneva McGaugh Ballard.  Danny was a graduate of Big Spring High School.  He married Shawn Ballard in Big Spring on November 27, 1976, and they moved to Clyde from Ft. McKavett in 1986.  He was self-employed and also known as a heavy equipment operator and a freight delivery man for multiple companies in the area. He was a member of the Cowboy Heritage Church in Clyde.

Danny had a larger than life personality that included, a boisterous laugh, a smile that would light up any room and a heart that would help anyone in need, day or night. His many past times included fishing and hunting with his grandsons and attending any one of their multiple sporting and/or choir events. He could be found most evenings sitting in his front yard, enjoying a cold beer with his son and friends, usually without his shirt on.

Danny spent the first half of his life raising hell. He spent the second half getting right with the Lord and will spend eternity with his Lord and Savior.

Danny is survived by his mother, Geneva Ballard, of Clyde; one son, Nathan Ballard of Clyde; two daughters, Tosha Cardenas of Clyde and Renee Waggoner and husband Jeff of Clyde; one sister, Linda Gibson of Clyde; six grandchildren, Shelby Waggoner, Jacob Waggoner, Joshua Waggoner, Natalie Waggoner, Baylor Cardenas and Hollynd Cardenas; one great-grandchild, Raylee Valdez; niece, Dusty Allen; and nephews, Chris Allen, Justin Gibson and Jimmy Gibson.

Danny was preceded in death by the love of his life and mother of his children, Shawn Ballard; his father, D.G. "Shorty" Ballard; and two brothers, Douglas and Perry Gilbert.
