David Gene Melton, 64, of Eula, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 21, 2018, in Abilene.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Clyde with Brother Richard Maxwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018.

David was born August 20, 1953, in Haskell County to Elmor and Alice (Strickland) Melton.  He attended school in Munday and Abilene.  On September 7, 1974, he married Norma Shelton in Seymour.  David had owned and operated David's Oilfield Construction since 1983.  At the time of his death, David and Norma were attending Abundant Life Assembly.

David is survived by his wife, Norma, of 43 years; two sons, Will Melton of Eula and Wade Couch and wife Heidi of Grand Prairie; his daughter, Linda Melton of Eula; his brother, Glenn Melton of Seymour; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and was the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wayne Melton; and his sisters, Betty Melton Sparks and Joyce Melton Martin.
