Obituary

Della M. Harriman, 83, of Clyde, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 after a short battle with Cancer. She was at home surrounded by family.

Della was born January 11, 1935 in Clovis, New Mexico to Walter & Viola (Smith) Cherry. Della graduated from Clovis High School in 1952. She married Airman William Edmonson in 1954. Della and Bill were transferred to Alaska where Della worked as a secretary for the government. After their military service, she moved to Indiana, Rhode Island, Maine back to Clovis, then to Abilene, Texas. While in Maine Della married her second love, Frank E. Harriman in July 1975. Della helped Frank in running Harriman's IGA as well as working as a bank teller. After Franks death, Della moved back to Clovis to help care for her ailing mother and worked as a bank teller. Della moved to Abilene in 1982 where she worked as a bank teller at different bank locations in Abilene. Della retired from working at the Noah Project. Della did not want to sit still so she got a part time job at Four Seasons Car Wash for a while.

Della was active with the Boys Clubs of America in Rhode Island and Maine and with the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) in Abilene. Della enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing 42 dominos, snowmobiling and traveling with her sisters. Della was able to travel to the Bermuda, Bahamas, Hawaii, Spain, and all over the United States.
Della is survived by her son, Steven "Tony" Edmonson and his wife Jill of Scarborough, Maine and her daughter, Cathy Carroll and her husband Steven of Clyde, Texas. Grandchildren, Patrick Edmonson, of Scarborough, Maine, Nicole Carroll, Vanessa Carroll, Nate Carroll, all of Clyde, Texas. Great Granddaughter, Ashley Carroll of Clyde, Texas. Brother, Jesse Cherry and his wife Bonita of Portales, New Mexico. As well as many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Della is preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Harriman of Yarmouth, Maine, parents, Walter and Viola Cherry of Clovis, New Mexico, sisters, Cleijo Bates of San Antonio, Texas, Clare Henley of Alexandria, Virginia, and great grandson, Henry Edmonson of Scarborough, Maine.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Highway 36 Church of Christ, 10576 State Highway 36 S, Abilene, Texas. Jon Schwiethale and Darrell Conway will be officiating. An interment will be in Yarmouth, Maine at an undecided time.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all those that worked with Della from Encompass Health, you all kept her strong for a long time and to Kindred Hospice who helped us during a most difficult time.
