Derrell Wayne Jones, Sr., 70, of Abilene died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in an Abilene hospice facility. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde. A private graveside service will be held at the Hamby Cemetery.

Derrell was born October 5, 1947 in Clanton, Alabama to Cecil Faye and Jessie Lee (Sansom) Jones. He attended Abilene High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army. He later worked for Ray Co Well Service as an oilfield operator for 32 years.

He is survived by his son Derrell Wayne Jones, Jr. (Bubba) and wife Misty of Abilene; two daughters, Shanna Jones of Abilene and Kalistie Smith of Idaho; brother Bill Jones of Hamby; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Lanier, Bradley Jones, Colton Lanier, Kristen Jones-South, Candice McArthur, Hannah Lanier, Jayton Jones, Jessie Jones, Khloe Heath and Mikah Thongsana; two great grandchildren, Noah and Claire Lanier and a special friend Blanche Peter.

Derrell was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Stacy Jones and brother Earl Jones.
