Wallace Dewayne Cargal, 71, of Manor passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Cook-Walden / Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. I-35, Pflugerville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Clyde Cemetery.

DeWayne was born in Abilene, Texas, on November 10, 1950, to parents Howard and Bonnie Elkins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Cargal, his parents Howard and Bonnie Elkins and brothers James Elkins and Raymond Dale Cargal.

DeWayne worked in the oilfield during his early years. By trade, he was a licensed journeyman plumber but is best described by the people in his life. DeWayne demonstrated the quality of loyalty, expressed in a song written by his lifelong friend, DC Roberts. He showed courageous faithfulness to his first wife, Barbara, as he helped her face death. DeWayne made sacrificial choices to benefit others, deciding to move to Austin to support his mother-in-law as she dealt with terminal cancer. He was a generous man, exemplified by helping his niece, Julie, establish an apartment in Austin after her high school graduation. Family was important to him. His nephew Kenneth will tell you that his Uncle D was always there for him, and he looked at DeWayne as a second father. He and Julie were like our children, and he loved them dearly. And he adored our great nephews and nieces. Nothing brought him more pleasure than spending time with them as pictures will show. DeWayne saw and developed potential in others, like Nick. He embraced life, loved to laugh, and was quite the prankster as his friends and family, including DC, Rob and Scooter, can confirm. The Lord led DeWayne to his wife, Karma, during a difficult time in both of their lives, and their relationship saved them both. He enjoyed life, especially fishing and RVing with Bill, Vi, Karma and his faithful dog, Dillon.

He leaves behind his loving wife Karma Cargal of Manor, brother Kenneth Ray Cargal and wife Glenna Cargal of Austin, brother-in-law Lewis Alexander and wife Lacy Alexander of Leander, precious nieces and nephews, Julie Wellman and husband Jared and their sons Deklyn and Beckett, Kenneth Cargal and wife Elisabeth Cargal, and their children, Brooke, Tanner and Paxton, Renae Blackmon and her daughter Paige, Rachel Esler and husband Don, and daughter Jubilee, Nathan Alexander and wife Rebecca and daughters Lyla, Tirzah, Gigi and Niki, Aaron Alexander and wife Kealey, and daughter Bodie, as well as his faithful BFF from childhood, DC Roberts and his wife Jerri, and longtime friend Vi, who all mourn his passing.

He was very loved and will be missed beyond measure.

DeWayne died in Round Rock, Texas, surrounded by multiple compassionate caregivers, including his wife, Karma. The nurses at Round Rock St. David's Hospital served empathetically in his transition to eternal life.
