Dimple Idell Nichols, the life of all gatherings and a fiercely competitive dominos player, died Monday, July 7, 2025, in Cuero, Texas. She was 81.

Born Aug. 28, 1943, in Throckmorton, Texas, to Elmer "Bud" Nichols and Montie Nichols, Dimple lived the later years of her life in Cuero where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often over several rounds of dominos. At those gatherings, even newcomers weren't strangers. And if they managed to beat her at one of her favorite games, like Chicken Foot or Mexican Train, her laugh — loud and full of joy — still echoed off the walls.

Dimple sewed garments for Vassarette in Eastland, Texas, and Walls Outdoor Goods in Breckenridge, Texas. She also worked for a mobile home manufacturer and in the parts department at King-Brown Ford, both in Breckenridge, and as an instructor at a beauty school in Pasadena, Texas. More recently, she enjoyed retirement to its fullest in Cuero with her dog Tessie.

She is survived by her daughter, Carie Young and her husband Dan of Citrus Springs, Florida; her son, Travis Flatt and his wife Lisa of Victoria, Texas; her grandchildren, Danyele Jans, Amber Flores, Crystal Flatt, and Tyler Flatt; and nephews, Terry Nichols and Jeff Nichols.

Dimple was preceded in death by her brothers, Bow Nichols, Ronnie Nichols, and Dean Nichols; sisters, Dorothy (Nichols) Taggert and Helen (Nichols) Wright; grandchild, Adrienne Young; niece, Darlene Taggart and nephew, Ricky Nichols.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Throckmorton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
