Don Mayfield Burns, 78, of Baird died Saturday, January 14, 2023, in an Abilene hospice facility.
A memorial / visitation will be held at the Baird Municipal Light Plant, 208 Walnut St., from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023.

Don was born April 16, 1944, in Lamesa to Fred and Ophelia (Mayfield) Burns. He graduated from Clyde High School. He married Vickey Jones in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 29, 1979. He served as Justice of the Peace for Callahan County for three terms.  After serving as J.P., he worked for TxDot and had previously owned and operated Burns Pool Service.

He is survived by his wife Vickey Burns of Baird; his son, Tim Burns and wife Preeti of Houston; daughter, Tia Sparks and husband Gary of Bedford; sister, Marcalynda Chrane and husband Leon of Clyde; five grandchildren, Kaeson Law and wife Cara of Azle, Kelsey Hines and husband Brandon of North Richland Hills, Kinsey Wiggins and husband Jordan of Bedford, Garrett Burns of Houston and Reyna Burns of Houston; four great grandchildren, Anneliese Dickson, Sutton Wiggins, Blake Hines and Kane Hines.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bufford and Freddie;his sister, Jan Greene and brother-in-law, Bob Greene.
