Donald Gayle Jones, Sr., 65, of Hamby died Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Pastor Robert Graven officiating. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donald was born June 12, 1954 in Lampasas to Billie and Verdell (Martin) Jones. He graduated from high school in Ft. Carson, Colorado in 1972. He married Janice Lee Vanhook in Lampasas on July 16, 1973. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 until 1981. They moved to Hamby from Abilene in 1983. After his military service he worked as a lineman for WTU, later becoming AEP, for 38 years.

He is survived by his father Billie C. Jones of Anniston, Alabama; his wife of 46 years Janice Jones of Hamby; two sons, Donald G. Jones, Jr. and wife Chanda of Abilene and Michael Jones and wife Jamie of Odessa; brother Charles Jones and wife Deedee of Anniston, Alabama; four grandchildren, Kaymi, Kinsley, Hayven and Dax Jones.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Verdell.
