Obituary

Doris June Crosby, 84, of Clyde died Thursday, July 1, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Services are scheduled 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Toby Henson officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday before the funeral.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home.

Doris was born August 21, 1936, in Wellman, Texas, to Lonnie and Lela Mae (Singleton)  Gilbreath. She was a 1954 graduate of Clyde High School. Doris married Glenn Howard Crosby in Abilene on December 16, 1957, and they moved to Clyde from Abilene in 1967.  Doris was  Vice President of People's State Bank for 31 years, also serving as Secretary to the Board of Directors.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde, The Clyde Woman's Club and the Clyde Chamber of Commerce.

Doris is survived by her son Larry Crosby and wife Debra of Royce City; two daughters, Pam Nestman of Fort Worth and Brenda Cauthen and husband Gregg of Baird; her brother, Bob Gilbreath of Glendale, Arizona; her sister Freida Davis of Andrews; her grandchildren, Mandi Edington and husband Zach of Coleman, Whitney Walters and husband Chas of Caddo Mills,  Kelby Cauthen of Abilene, Trent Nestman and wife Amanda of Ft. Worth, Skyler Nestman of Ft. Worth, Garrett Crosby of Round Rock and Darcy Nestman of Ft. Worth; her great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hadden Edington, Walker and Temperance Nestman, and Bryce, Donavon and Landon Walters; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Glenn; her son-in-law, Nye Nestman; two brothers, Willard and Bill Gilbreath; and three sisters, Norma McCoy, Thelma McLemore and Maurine Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kindred Hospice, 1665 Antilley Road, Suite 300, Abilene, Texas, 79606, or a favorite charity.
