Obituary

Dorothy Alice Yandell, 96, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Mesa Springs Healthcare Center. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Clyde Cemetery with Pastor Joel Tobey officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Dorothy was born November 8, 1928, in Ogelsby to Cordie Everett and Margaret (Henager) Fellers. She attended school in Gatesville and graduated from Sweetwater High School. She married Alton Cecil Yandell, Sr. in Trent on November 10, 1946. They moved to Clyde in 1961, and she was a homemaker and a Baptist. Dorothy was the Queen of quilting and has donated over thirty quilts to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. She also loved sewing, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles and reading. One of her favorite things was being GiGi and Great Grannan to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, A.C. Yandell, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Denton Valley; two daughters, Janice Corbett and husband, Terry of Evant and Carol Gibson of Abilene; two brothers, Byron "Sonny" Fellers of Baird and Bobby Fellers and wife Stella Marie of Clyde; three sisters, Mildred Fellers of Baird, Rose Jeffus of Fort Worth and Mary Brazelton of Baird; four grandchildren, Terry Alan Corbett, Jr. and wife Nichole of Spurger, James Alan Corbett and wife Rachel of Crawford, Brian Keith Gibson of Plano and Shelley Marie Bailey and husband Chris of Goldthwaite; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alton; her brothers, Marvin Fellers and Bill Fellers; sister, Virginia Moore; son-in-law, Shann Gibson, daughter-in-law, Clarice Yandell and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Mesa Springs Healthcare Center and the staff at Hendrick Hospice Care for their wonderful care and compassion for Dorothy.
