Doyle Lenz, 93, of Eula, died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, in the Eula Baptist Church with Brother Jim Renfro officiating. Burial will follow in the Eula Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church prior the service.

Doyle was born November 14, 1928, in the Brownlee Community near Roscoe in Nolan County to Henry Albert and Bertha (Wilson) Lenz.  He attended school in Cisco.  Doyle married his wife, Wanda Nell Versyp, on September 7, 1951, in Abilene.  They moved to Eula from Abilene in 1969.  Doyle and Wanda spent 68 years together until her death in August of 2020.

Doyle was a floor covering installer using his trade after retirement to do volunteer work with the Big Country Baptist Assembly in Lueders.  He devoted much of his time to supporting and building the encampment.  He was a longtime and involved member of First Baptist Church in Eula where he, along with his wife who was church secretary for many years, served faithfully.  He served as Chairman of the Building Committee as well as being very active in all church activities.

Doyle set dynamite, worked for the railroad and a carbon black plant before entering his lifelong trade.  He was also a Boy Scout leader and served as President of the Eula Lions Club. Doyle was devoted to God, his family, church and community.

Doyle is survived by four sons, Mike Lenz and wife Janice of Marble Falls, David Lenz and wife Sarah of Abilene, Steve Lenz and wife Ann of Eula and Allen Lenz and wife Connie of Llano; two daughters, Judy Johnson and husband Morris of Rochelle and Holly Casey and husband Tim of Abilene; one brother-in-law, Clois Weldon Versyp of Hawley; one sister, Mona Sue Partain of New Braunfels; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren with another two on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Nell; one brother, Henry Drayton Lenz and two sisters, Laverne Slatton and Joy Nell Couch.
