Obituary

Dumas Ray Pledger, 86 of Clyde, TX passed peacefully surrounded by family at 6:49pm, Friday, September 30,2022 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, TX.

Dumas a Veteran PFC, US Army, 1961-1963, US Army Corps of Engineers stationed in France. Met and married Brenda Barnett of Albertville, AL in 1964. Dumas lived a full life of travel and adventure conquering 47 States and several Countries including Canada, France and Germany. Retiring with 50+ years as a Commercial and Home Builder. He loved fishing and camping with his family, especially his Grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife just 3 months shy of 58 years, Brenda Pledger of Clyde, TX. Son, Nathan Pledger (Bobbi) of Merkel, TX, Daughter, Holli Hopkins (Russell) of Baird, TX Son, David Pledger of Lawrenceville, GA, Son, Stephen Pledger (Vickie) of Smyrna, GA, Daughter, Rebekah Peterman of Buda, TX.  His 13 Grandchildren include, Kayli Cota (Justin) of Merkel, TX, Hunter Dennington of Clyde, TX, Kendra Woods (Garrett) of Arlington, TX, Marshall Pledger of Hamlin, TX. Jen Trimble Shaw, John Stack, Rachel Stack, Jessie Crowe, Kelly Pledger, David Pledger, Jr, Kirsten Pledger, Alys Pledger and families of GA, Sarah Stack of Ireland. 5 Great Grandchildren, Brother, Byron Pledger of Alabama, Sister, Dortha Crouse of Ohio. And special friends Alton and Shelley Dennington of Clyde, TX.

He was preceded in death by his Daughter, Deborah Pledger Stack and Daughter in Law, Kathryn Westmoreland Pledger of GA, his parents Paul and Ella Pledger of AL, and 8 brothers.

Graveside services are Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 12 Noon at Clyde Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nathan Pledger, Marshall Pledger, Hunter Dennington, Russell Hopkins, Justin Cota and Charles Beeman. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Woods and Alton Dennington.

The family would like to thank Dr Jeffrey Edwards and his staff, Kindred Home Health, Centerwell Home Health, Hendrick Medical Center and Hendrick Hospice Care for their taking care of Dumas, and Bailey-Howard Funeral Home.

As far as memorials, Dumas would just want y'all to go fishing.
