Dwayne Lee Guthrie, 72, of Clyde died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Clyde Cemetery with Dr. Toby Henson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Dwayne was born November 4, 1945 in Brownwood to Richard (Dick) and Willie Mae Guthrie. He graduated from Abilene High School. He married Paula Garner in Abilene on April 3, 1965. He worked for Binswanger Glass and Citizens Glass and later owned and operated Independent Glass for many years. He has worked on many glass and construction projects. From the 1980's tornado that hit Lubbock, he put glass in the Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Lubbock, where his oldest daughter Ronda is currently employed. He also did the majority of the glass work for Hendrick Hospital. He also worked with Dyess AFB, Midland Bank, installed the mirrors at West Texas Rehab Center, First Baptist Church in Clyde and the Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde. He also donated his labor to numerous friends, family and organizations over the years.

He loved his wife and daughters and his family always came first. He loved fishing and always took his family on an annual vacation to Lemons Ranch.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Paula Guthrie of Clyde; three daughters, Ronda Guthrie and husband Steve Oles of Lubbock, Connie Pueschel Guthrie of Clyde and Sherry Guthrie Wilson of Baird; grandchildren, Maegan Guthrie, Monica Ward and husband Mike, Maranda Satterfield, Kasey Guthrie Collins, Maddison Guthrie Oles and Shooter Guthrie Wilson; great grandson Branson Ward and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Darlene Killion and brother Richard (Red) Durwood Guthrie.
