Obituary

Eliadora "Lola" Delores Keith, 91, of Baird passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in an Abilene hospice facility. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church in Clyde with Father Albert Ezeanya officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery in Baird. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Eliadora was born July 3, 1933, in Richmond, Texas to the late Andrew O. and Dominga (Bustamante) Mendez. She was a homemaker most of her life, but she worked for the Baird Café for a few years and cleaned many houses in the Baird area. She was a member of Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church in Clyde. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion in Baird, a Goldstar Mother and the Maiden of the USS Miguel Keith, which was named after her son that received the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam Era. He was also the last Latino to ever receive this for the Vietnam Era.

She is survived by six children, Phillip Mendez of Houston, Jesse Mendez of Baird, Lonnie Keith and wife Yolanda of Baird, Michelle Young of Eastland, Bobby Keith of Clyde and Racquell Beck of Baird; one brother, Antonio Rios of San Antonio; 23 grandchildren, Eric Keith and wife Magen of Levelland, Savannah Dorris and husband Noah of Abilene, Mellissa Killingworth and husband Patrick of San Angelo, Julia Pearson and husband Michael of Fort Worth, Christi Jordan of Denton, Lisa Keith of Abilene, Alfredo "Bubba" DelaRosa of Lubbock, Sherri Sherrin of Gatesville, Kassie Watts of Eastland, Tiffni Sherrin of Cisco, Chase Sherrin and wife Chelsea of Brownwood, Veronica Mendez of Houston, Stephen A. Mendez Sisi Cerda of Baird, Amy Esparza of Abilene, Olivia Esparza of Abilene, Maria Wilson and husband Derrick of Atlanta, Georgia, Josh Mendez and wife Sara of Kansas, Mindy Rodriguez and husband Daniel of Stephenville, Jesse Mendez, Jr. and wife Shelby of Missouri, Levi Mendez of Baird, Adam Mendez of Baird, Dominga Owen and husband Brandon of Baird and Teresa Espitia of Baird; 66 great grandchildren; special friend, Mary Easley of Omaha, Nebraska and many other relatives and friends.

Eliadora was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Sepy, Andrew and John Mendez; sister, Delfina Sanchez; her daughter, Terry DelaRosa and her son, Miguel Keith.
