Obituary

Eva Rose (Barr) Turner, 82, of Clyde passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023, after a lengthy illness. A graveside memorial service will be held at Eula Cemetery on January 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Eva was born to Bill and Melba Barr on November 17, 1940, in the Eula, Texas community. She attended elementary school in Eula, graduating from Clyde High School. On July 12, 1958, she married Don Turner. They were married for 56 years and had one daughter, Melynda. Eva was a member of the Clyde First Baptist Church.

Eva worked for many years at Oil Transport in Abilene and later for Bulldog Steel in Clyde. After retirement, Eva enjoyed working in her garden and taking care of her chickens. She was also an avid quilter. Loving the outdoors, and fishing in particular, she and Don spent many weekends on Brownwood Lake and later spent more time on Lake Fork. Her greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Melynda Buchanan and husband Blayne of Baird; granddaughter, Shaney Ellis and husband Otis of Wichita Falls; grandsons, Devin Joy of Abilene, Bo Buchanan of Baird and Joe Buchanan of Cross Plains; great grandsons, Landon Ellis of Wichita Falls and Layden Joy of Abilene. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine Poole and husband Gary of Abilene.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Leon Barr.
