Fred Allan Garvin, 87, of League City, formerly of Clyde, died Saturday, November 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Cherry Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Terrell officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery.
Fred was born May 16, 1932 in Palo Pinto County to Leon and Lessie (Blackerby) Garvin. He graduated from Lueders High School. He married Marijan Arleen Alford in Abilene on June 6, 1952. After graduation he attended Hardin Simmons University, graduating with his Undergraduate degree and later from Southwestern Baptist Seminary with his Master of Divinity degree. He was active in ministry for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife Marijan Garvin of League City; four sons, Fred Allan Garvin, Robert Moody Garvin, Brent Daniel Garvin and Scott Arlen Garvin; brother Rex Martin Garvin; three sisters, Robbie Lee Cason, Lessie Rose Kirby and Beccy Ann Garvin; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his son Perry Clayton Garvin, four brothers, Tommy Clayton Garvin, Carol Dale Garvin, Harry Burton Garvin and Leon Robert Garvin, Jr.
