George David Drake, 71, of Clyde, formerly of Thorndale, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in an Abilene hospital. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Clyde Cemetery with Pastor Brad Schowengerdt officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

George was born November 22, 1950, in Jayton to George Calvin and Ruby Lee (Roberts) Drake. He worked for Superior Chair Craft in Belton for many years. He married Gloria Brock in Belton on March 10, 1978. They later moved to Thorndale from Belton and in March of this year, they moved to Clyde. George was loved by his family and will be missed by them all.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gloria Drake of Clyde; son, Michael Drake and wife Wendy of Clyde; daughter, Christy Drake of Fort Worth; brother, Calvin Drake of Thorndale; sister, Ruby Jo Pachl and husband Jim of Thorndale; eight grandchildren, Khelsea, Joy, Jude, Dayton, Abby, Zach, Alyssa and Caleb; seven great grandchildren, Zaydin, Brantley, Atlee, Axle, Paislie, Haven and Aceston and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Drake and grandchildren, Kathlene and Josiah.
