It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Elias Reed Jr. on May 13, 2026. He was affectionately known as "Buddy" to his friends and family. Buddy lived a life rich in love, kindness, and generosity.

He was born in the City of Baltimore, spent his early years with his family in West Virginia, and he later moved to the Greater Los Angeles Area where spent his teens and early adulthood. He finally settled with his family in Clyde where he lived for the last 47 years.

Buddy was the cherished son of the late George Elias Reed Sr. and Martha Tucker Reed, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life. Although his parents have predeceased him, their legacy lived on through Buddy's unwavering dedication to his family and community.

In 1965, Buddy graduated from Hunting Park High School in California, embarking on a path that would see him contribute significantly to the manufacturing and welding industries. His early career saw him on the assembly lines, crafting many of the major home appliances that became staples in the households across the nation. With a keen eye and skilled hands, Buddy transitioned into the welding industry, where his craftsmanship was evident over a 30 plus year career. His work supported the oil and gas industry and played a crucial role in constructing local community water systems, leaving a lasting impact.

Buddy married his wife Lynda in Los Angeles and during their 61-year marriage they raised two sons, Michael and Mark. Lynda survives him, along with their sons and their families. Buddy was a proud and loving grandfather to five grandchildren: Mike, Sierra, Karianna, Nathaniel, and Daniel, who brought immense joy to his life.

Buddy was a man of many talents who enjoyed working around his home in his leisure time. He was known for his kindness and willingness to help, and he was always the first to offer a helping hand, whether to his family, colleagues, or neighbors. He was a man who could be depended upon in any situation.

Surviving him are his sisters, Caroline Collins and Mary Sullivan, who shared in his life's journey, offering support and love. In addition, he is survived by his dear cousin Rusty Freeland.

A viewing has been scheduled for Sunday, May 17th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Buddy's medical care team, both past and present, and to the compassionate staff of Hendrick Hospice for their unwavering support and care during his final journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please send donations to Hendrick Health Hospice Care or to the American Cancer Society.  

As we celebrate Buddy’s life, we remember a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. His legacy will continue through the lives of those he loved and the community he served. In our hearts, he will forever be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and dear friend.

May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
