Gilbert Hunt, 75, of Clyde died Monday, October 8, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gilbert was born June 29, 1943 in Pineville, Louisiana to Murray and Velma Hunt. He graduated from high school in Leesville, Louisiana. He moved to Abilene from Pineville in 1958 and later to Clyde from Abilene in 1970 and married Patsy Louise House in Abilene in December 2008. He was a painter and owned J&H Painting for many years. He was a member of the Keeper's Car Club and the Western Washington Painters Union.

He is survived by his son Gil Hunt of Abilene; daughter Diane Jones of Clyde; step son Russell Holland and wife Sheila of Clyde; step daughter Cheryl Armstrong of Clyde; brothers, Clyde Hunt and Glen Ray Hunt, both of Leesville, Louisiana; sisters, Juanita Hunt Hagan of Raleigh, North Carolina, Frances Hunt Gardsbane of Flower Mound and Evelyn Hunt Rose of Ardmore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Travis Smith and wife Sarah, Shane Armstrong, Larkin Jones, Russell Holland, Jr. and wife Crysta, Colby Jones and Kylah Holland and three great grandchildren, Owen Smith, Talon Holland and Madison Holland.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy, brother Ray Hunt, sisters, Florence and Dorothy Hunt.
