Glen Rex Loper, 79, of Dudley passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, in an Abilene hospice facility. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Dudley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday.

Glen was born April 4, 1942, in Abilene to Isom Jefferson and Mary Myrtle (Lewis) Loper. He grew up in Dudley and attended elementary school in Denton Valley.  He graduated from Eula High School in 1960. He owned and operated Loper Lettering Service for over 30 years and also worked for Grace Monument Company. Glen was a lifelong resident of Callahan County, except for two years when he served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his life in the country and living in the Dudley and the Denton Valley communities. Glen was a very generous man. He offered unconditional love and compassion to those around him.

He is survived by three nieces, Sandra Bradshaw of Anson, Pamela Sandbothe of Anson and Linda Lewallen of Alvin; two nephews, Jerry Loper of Roanoke and Joey Loper of Abilene; cousin, Ruth Gray of Dudley and numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Truett and Don Loper and his sister, Opal Hitchcock.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Loper, Jeffrey Bradshaw, Travis Bradshaw, Jason Blankenship, Greg Sandbothe and James Burleson.  Honorary pallbearers are Fred Foy and Hank Foy.
