Hannah Maxine (Franklin) Leggett, 91, of Weatherford, formerly of Clyde, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in a Weatherford care center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Kendrick Cemetery in Denton Valley with Dr. Dave Douglas officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Maxine was born November 13, 1926 in Denton Valley to Odus (Buck) and Beatrice Franklin. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1943 from Denton High School. She attended cosmetology school in Abilene and owned her own shop, Maxine's, in Baird for 14 years. She then went to work for Texas Instruments in Abilene, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Earl Poe and wife Carolyn of Clyde and Douglas Wayne Campbell and wife Judy of Oplin; two daughters, Jackie Laverne Lambert and husband Lawrence of Weatherford and Linda Sue Bowen of Fort Worth; sister Wanda Jean Coleman of Greenville; sister-in-law Josephine Franklin of Kerrville; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, brother Odus Franklin; three sisters, Mary Bell Franklin, Billie June Kinder and Betty Irene Franklin.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Alan Lambert, Ricky Lambert, Richard Strange, Tim Bowen, Tommy Campbell, Wayne Campbell and Shannon Poe, and her nephew Eddie Kinder.
