Harley Samuel Wheeler, 81, of Clyde passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Belle Plaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Harley was born July 25, 1943, in Ballinger to George Cecil and Leona (Cox) Wheeler. He attended schools in Ballinger and married Barbara Lynn Bell in San Angelo on July 21, 1962, and they moved to Clyde from Ballinger in 1963. Harley worked as a groundskeeper for Shady Oak Country Club, for General Dynamics for 15 years and he owned and operated Bell Stake Company. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a Master Mason with Lodge #1394.

He is survived by four sons, Dennis Wheeler and wife Lou, John C. Wheeler, Brandon Wheeler and wife Sherri and Jason Wheeler and wife LeAnne; five daughters, Betty Beck and husband Brian, Jackie Kihara and husband Steve, Diania Sporisky, Amber Spencer and Crystal Sporisky; one brother, Henry Sylvester Wheeler; two sisters, Anna Mae Nicholson and Rose Marie Henry; ten grandchildren, Dixie, Diana, Ariel, Catherine, Jonathon, Jasmine, Lillian, Violet, Bryan and Mckynzi; twelve great grandchildren, Aleigha, Harley, Jocilynn, Matthew, Darian, Alonzo, Zayeda, Noah, Katherine, Janie, Lucas and Evelyn and June and twins due soon and many more to come; many grandchildren and great grandchildren that are not listed that he loved as his own and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harley was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leona; his wife, Barbara Lynn; two brothers, George and Andy Wheeler; one sister, Margie Ellen Norris and one grandson, Jonathan Troy Wheeler.
