Harold Gray Neely, 81, of Oplin passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. To honor his memory, a visitation and funeral service are scheduled at Highway 36 Church of Christ. Friends and family are invited to gather for the visitation at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM at the same location.

The funeral service, celebrating Harold's life, will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Highway 36 Church of Christ. Minister Greg Melton will lead the service. Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde is overseeing the arrangements. Following the service, Harold will be laid to rest at Dudley Cemetery.

Born on May 8, 1942, in El Paso, Harold was the son of David Crockett Neely and Alta Mae (Samples) Neely. He graduated from high school in El Paso and furthered his education at Lubbock Christian College and Texas Western College. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Harold also devoted 25 years to his career at El Paso Natural Gas Company, retiring as a service manager. He married Roberta Ann Scott Thompson on July 21, 2007, and they were both active members of the Highway 36 Church of Christ.

Harold is survived by his wife, Roberta Thompson Neely; stepdaughter, Rebecca Ann Leggett and her husband Jeff of Medford, Oregon; stepson, Loren Scott Thompson and his wife Ashley of Oplin; brothers, Perry Joe Neely and his wife Shirley of Abilene, and Roy Glenn Neely of El Paso; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Jillian and Jayla Leggett and Jed and Reid Thompson: as well as a niece, several nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
