Hubert Edward Martin, Jr., 76, of Clyde died Monday, January 8, 2018 in an Abilene care center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Hwy. 36 Church of Christ with Jim D. Caraway, of Breckenridge, officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Macedonia Cemetery in Stephens County on FM 717. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Eddy was born April 27, 1941 in Pampa, Texas to Hubert Edward Martin, Sr. and Nolie (Raney) Martin. He graduated from Breckenridge High School and also attended Tarleton University. He married Shirley Wright in Breckenridge on July 2, 1960. He was a machinist for Lockheed and General Dynamics and was the owner of Abtex U-Bolts and Springs. Eddy was a member of the Hwy. 36 Church of Christ. Eddy (Papa) loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. He also loved watching his grandchildren's activities.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Martin; two sons, Lee (Bubba) Martin and wife Bobbie and Billy Martin and wife Vanessa, all of Clyde; two daughters, Vicki Hayhurst and husband Doug of Dudley and Patti Martin Stennett of Clyde; sister Norma Ruth Martin of Balch Springs; eight grandchildren, Zachary Hayhurst and wife April, Jessica Hayhurst, Jacob Stennett, Lacy Daniel, Jachlyn Hayhurst and Justin Holson, Dylan Stennett, Kinley Martin and Will Martin; nine great grandchildren, Dawson, Paige, Taylor, Johnny, Balin, Avery, Braxton, Temperance and Aiden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddy was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Clyde Fire Department, Macedonia Cemetery, Meals on Wheels, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
