Obituary

Jack Garland Hayden, 65, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home in Clyde.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

Jack was born August 4, 1958, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Joe Hayden and Loretta (Hale) Hayden.  He attended the first 11 years of school in Lexington and attended Bryan Station High School in Lexington and graduated from New London High School in New London, Connecticut. After graduating from high school, Jack served in the US Army from 1977-1979.  He studied at Gatton College of Business at the University of Kentucky.  Jack married Jamie Staggs on October 12, 1985, in Abilene.  He and Jamie moved to Clyde from Abilene in 1986.

Jack worked for the US Postal Service in Abilene for more than 25 years.  He also owned Hayden Photo for three years in Clyde.  Jack was a Clyde Little League coach, a member of Clyde Jaycees, and was Brother of the Year as a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jamie Hayden of Clyde; his son, Justin Hayden and Anjanet Aguilar of Midland; his brother, Ray Flannery and wife Devonna of Kentucky; his sisters, Joyce Giroux and husband Don of Connecticut, Phyllis Brown Greco of Florida, Julie Bostic of Kentucky and Janet Hayden of Kentucky; one grandson, Casen Hayden of Abilene, and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacklyn Hayden; two sisters, Jean Hayden and Joan Hayden; and three brothers, Wayne Flannery, Robert Flannery and Joe Hayden.
