Jack Lannom, 84, of Clyde, passed to his heavenly home on Friday, June 19, 2020.  Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at First Baptist Church, Clyde, with Dr. Toby Henson and Dr. Mike Auten officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Jack was born July 9, 1935, in Marion, Illinois, to Harry and Thelma (Conlee) Lannom.  He attended schools in Marion.  He later attended Cisco Junior College in Clyde.

In 1955, Jack joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, TX, Denver, CO, and Clovis, NM.  While stationed in Clovis, he visited friends at Dyess AFB in Abilene, and met Jo Ann Rogers of Clyde.  They were married in Clyde on December 27, 1957.  After finishing his enlistment in the Air Force, they moved back to Clyde.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clyde, where he was ordained as a deacon in 1970.  He loved serving his church family.  When he came to Abilene, he worked at West Texas Wholesale Supply for eight years before going to work in the offices of Merchants Motor Lines in Abilene where he worked for approximately 30 years.  His "retirement" found him serving as custodian at his church for over 20 years until failing health forced him to retire again.

His hobbies included painting pictures, playing his harmonica and whistling the gospel tunes he loved.  He enjoyed coffee breaks at church and attending gospel concerts with his nephew, Buddy Rogers.

Jack is survived by his beloved family:  his wife of 62 years; his three daughters, Linda Williams of Granbury, Liz Lannom and Perry Branham of Clyde, and Lisa Englert of Clyde;   three grandchildren, Justin Williams of California, Garrett Lannom and wife Ashlee of Clyde, and Amber Englert and husband Trevor Nilsen of Clyde; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Lannom and Indie Nilsen both of Clyde; three sisters, Sharon Grady and Karen Beyer of Illinois, and Kay Heineke and husband Joe of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Lannom who died in 1969; his five brothers, W. Eugene Lannom, Wayne Lannom, Gary Lannom, Rick Lannom, and Donnie Lannom; and his sister, Judy..
