James Edward (Sonny) Jamison, 78, of Mansfield, died Sunday, January 28, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Clyde Cemetery with Brother Larry Hooper officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Sonny was born May 17, 1939 in Black Oak, Arkansas to Norman and Juanita (Roe) Simpson. He graduated from high school in Arkansas and then enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and served as a tank crewman. He later worked in the oilfield as a driller/tool pusher.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah Anders Nichols of Brownwood; three sons, James Simpson of Mansfield, Terry Lynn Jamison and Jerry Mack Jamison, both of Texas; sister Norma Purdom of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Junanita, his wife Yvonne, a grandson James Nichols and a granddaughter Tiffany Nichols.
