Rev. James C. Holman, 96, of Clyde died Saturday, January 12, 2019 in an Abilene care center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Clyde with Rev. Lewis Holland and Rev. Monty Barnett officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

James was born the tenth of eleven children on September 20, 1922 in Heber Springs, Arkansas to James Claude Sr. and Anna (Gillham) Holman. He graduated from God's Bible School in Indianapolis, Indiana. May 25, 1945, James graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and was married to a young professor of French, Marion McClean Davidson, that same day. After Marion's death he later married Peggy Wendland in Midland on November 24, 1979. James began his preaching career at Quitaque Methodist Church. He later preached at Grace Methodist Church in Abilene, Lorenzo Methodist, Canadian Methodist, St Paul Methodist in Midland and retired from Perryton Methodist Church. He moved to Clyde from Perryton in 1987 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clyde.

He is survived by his son James David Holman of Lubbock; two daughters, Marion Elizabeth Holman of Lubbock and Margaret (Peggy) Ann Simank and husband Randy of Kerrville; step-son David Wendland of Abilene; two grandchildren, Sarah McKee and husband Tanner of Amarillo and Andrew Reid Simank and wife Megan of Austin; three great grandchildren, Kinley and Kaelyn McKee and Vivienne Sloane Simank; special friends, Sue Bell and Rev. Monty Barnett, both of Clyde and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

James was preceded in death by his first wife Marion in 1978, his second wife Peggy in 2005, eight sisters and two brothers.
