James Hubert Tidwell, 74, of Abilene passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in an Abilene hospital. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Carrigan Family Cemetery with Pastor Joel Tobey officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

James was born February 10, 1949, in Abilene to James Arble and Thelma Willie (Cain) Tidwell. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Carolyn Sue Adams in Buford, South Carolina on January 3, 1975. He worked as a sandblaster for many years.

He is survived by his son, Greg Martin of Abilene; three granddaughters, Ashley, Lauren and Cara Sue and his sister-in-law, Pat Carrigan of Eula.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carolyn in 2018; his son, James Tidwell in May 2023, and two sisters, Faye Sweeney and Jean Guthrie.
