James Lorrin Mawdsley, 66, of Abilene passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Wylie Baptist Church with Pastor's Mike Harkrider and Tony Appuglies officiating.
James was born November 12, 1958, in North Miami Beach, Florida to Arnold and Jeannie (Gazzola) Mawdsley. He graduated high school in Bath County, Virginia. James married Laura Lee Tamblyn in Abilene at the Waterfall Wall on November 7, 2015. He worked as a master plumber for Key City Septic and Plumbing for 26 years and was a member of Wylie Baptist Church. James was a simple man and very easy going with a beautiful heart and soul. He loved the outdoors and working in his yard and also loved to read. He loved all animals and was known to feed and take care of many of the animals in his neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Lee Mawdsley of Abilene; one brother, Chris Mawdsley and wife Paige of Sommerset, Virginia; two sisters, Laura Marie Mawdsley and wife Francine of Palmer Lake, Colorado and Molly Reynolds of Massachusetts; nieces and nephew, Alex Mawdsley and wife Carolyn, Tyler Reynolds, Ella Felix and Pamela Hauer; aunt, Opal Gazzola of Virginia and numerous cousins.
James was preceded in death by his father, Arnold in 1997; his mother, Jeannie in 2020 and his niece, Claire Mawdsley in 2011.
