Obituary

Janette Annyce Venable Minatra passed away on December 7, 2018 in Clyde, Texas.  She was 76 yrs. old when she suffered a stroke, which eventually claimed her life.  Annyce passed away at Clyde Nursing Center in Clyde, Texas surrounded by the family who loved her. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Annyce was born in Abilene, Texas on October 7, 1942 to James Albert Venable (who predeceased Annyce's birth due to an accident) and Mary Janette Shelton Venable.

Annyce grew up in Abilene, Texas, the baby sister of two older brothers, James Charles Venable and Marshall Lee Venable.  She attended Travis Elementary and later worked at Marvin Harrison's (her stepfather's) Café.  In 1958 she married James Ray Prickett.  Annyce had five children Donna Lynne Prickett 1958, Pamela Rae Prickett 1959, David Wayne Prickett 1960, Robert Dee Prickett 1962 and James Ray (junior) Prickett Jr., 1963.  The couple divorced and Annyce married James (Jim) Russell Minatra in 1971.  Minatra brought two sons, Jimmy and Jeffrey to the marriage.  Jim and Annyce also raised two of their grandchildren, Richie and Janette Davidson. Annyce was a warm and loving mother to all her children and later grandchildren.  The couple divorced after twenty five years of marriage.

In 1977 her mother, Mary Janette Shelton Cowan became ill, and Annyce cared for her until she died in 1977.  Annyce then went to work for Abilene State School where she was awarded Employee of the Year. After her retirement, she continued to babysit for her grandchildren, as well as others who needed child care.  Her loving spirit suffered a severe blow when her youngest son, Jr. passed away in 1994.  In 2011 her brother, Marshall Venable suffered a stroke and Annyce opened her home and arms to him and cared for him until she was forced to place him in Clyde Nursing Center, where he passed away in 2013. She also cared for her step father, her mother in law and father in law prior to their passing. Annyce will be remembered for her loving heart, which she extended to both family and friends. Annyce was a longtime member of the Cowboy Heritage Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Post 57.

Annyce is predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Janette Venable, her youngest son, James Ray (Jr.) Prickett and her brother Marshall Lee Venable.  She is survived by her oldest brother, James Charles Venable (Cecilia Venable), his children (James Clifford, Jimmy Augustus, Justin Lance, Jason Jay and Breanna Lynn Venable, and numerous grandchildren).  Her children: Donna Eskridge, Pamela Hagan and husband, David, David Prickett and wife, Martha, Robert Prickett and wife, Winkie, Sons: Jimmy Minatra and wife, Peggy, Jeffery Minatra and wife, Laura.
